A grinding spindle earns its keep in the last tenths. Surface finish and size on a ground part trace straight back to the condition of the spindle turning the wheel, which is why a grinding spindle that has started to drift, chatter, or run hot deserves attention before it starts signing its name on your parts.

Precision is the whole job

Grinding work is where our inspection standards matter most. In the clean inspection room, shaft bearing journals and the drawbar bore are checked for runout with indicators reading to fifty millionths of an inch, housing bores are checked for size, alignment, and shoulder squareness, and bearing spacers are checked for parallelism and flatness. On a grinding spindle there is nowhere for a marginal measurement to hide, because the wheel will report it on the very first part.

The shipment is simpler than you think

Here is one detail that surprises shops: a grinding spindle shipment does not need to include a tool holder or drawbar. Those items matter for milling spindles, where the tool interface and drawbar are checked as a system; grinding spindles skip them. Fill out the request form, pack the spindle, and send it.
